A Dry Argument

Wednesday 18th

I was again woken up by the guy next door around 5:30. I guess he will be getting up that early every day and putting on his TV. It did mean we were on the way to the office before 8 this morning.

I had picked up my washing basket last night and this morning discovered they hadn't been washed. Fortunately it was done tonight so I will have clean clothes for tomorrow.

I also now have some cholesterol tablets. I couldn't really be sure whether my driver was going to Phetchabun anyway (an hour each way) or whether he was making a special trip, but I printed of a page from the net so he could show the chemist what I needed. It turned out to cost about twice as much as at home, which surprised me. I guess those government subsidies really do make our drugs cheaper.

Apart from that it was mostly working through these latest changes today. We are more or less going back to an earlier approach of allocation between wells based on estimated measurements. I changed that some time ago as they thought is was too complicated and not giving the result they needed. I have most of the data changes made and will work on the calculations tomorrow, and possibly the import from Excel.

I have added a number of validation checks as well, cross checking the results from the data sheet with export sales and transfer tickets, so hopefully any data entry errors will be easy to spot.

I had the Thai meal tonight - some chicken and cabbage stir fry and something else with fried eggs in it. It wasn't too bad, despite how it sounds.

One thing I have noticed this trip is how dry everything is so I have included photos from the last few days with photos of the same places taken last year. The river must have dropped 12 meters since the September rains and the rice and potato crops have been harvested leaving empty fields. It is strange since I have previously always thought of Thailand as being wet and green.

One advantage of this is that there aren't many mosquitoes about. They were pretty bad last time.
