Site Seeing

Tuesday 17th

I slept fairly well - really glad to have that extra mattress - and eventually was woken up by the noise from the neighbour about 6-30. I thought it was too soon to get up so I played some more games on my MP3.

Eventually got up about 7-30 and found my shower had a built in random number generator. Both the pressure and temperature of the water were all over the place. Never really hot or cold just varying shades of warm and never a torrent either.

My driver was already waiting when I left the room so I had a quick breakfast and sorted out a laundry basket, then went back to the room to fill it and pick up the laptop. It was a bit after 8 by the time we were on the way.

Spencer had read my note from yesterday and further discussion ensued. In the end we have decided to give up on estimating the stock levels of oil and water together and do everything on combined volumes.

He suggested Panu take me to one of the sites to see how the tanker ticket system works. This was written by someone else but the data collected gets exported to my system.

Before I could do that I had to get some safety boots, overalls and a hard hat. These were all available from the stores but as I'd only worn thongs to work, I had no socks and the boots rubbed me after a while.

We visited two sites with the usual paraphernalia - pumps, tanks, pipes all over the place. It was also pretty hot, especially with long sleeves.

I started on the changes this afternoon and did a few smaller ones before stopping and writing out the plans. I eventually got to discuss them but didn't go any further. It was still nearly 7 before I was back at the hotel.

Dinner was pork steaks and I watched then end of some American film with Christian Slater before heading back to the room.

I have left something at home - my cholesterol tablets. It won't kill me not to take them for a few days but skipping a month probably isn't the best idea. We tried 3 Chemist shops on the way home but nobody had any. Must be the healthy lifestyle, no one here has cholesterol problems.
