This is exciting, its just after 7pm and the power has been of for several hours. The only light in my room is from the laptop screen or if I turned them on, the phone or mp3 player screens. We had a fairly serious storm earlier today and the power flickered off and back on a handful of times. I have finished most of the reworking of the program and it was ready for testing. Panu and I were starting to put in the first day's data and had put in 6 or so tanks and I decided to save them. Nothing was saved, because the server had gone down. I waited for a while and when the power stayed off, decided it was time to go home.
The power has just come back on while I was typing that last paragraph, so things might be ok after all.
Fortunately they must have gas in the kitchen as they were able to cook dinner - pork chop and chips with salad - and the ice cream hadn't melted so dessert was ok too.
We sat over there talking for a while and the staff put candles about.
With the storm there was no sunset to photograph today but I did take some shots around the office. There are lots of trees similar to this one with the yellow flowers around the area. They are a bit like jacarandas in that they are relatively unspectacular most of the year but at certain times they are very colourful. The other shot is of the road to the office. There was a shot of it in flood on the last blog but since then it has gone from being a dirt track to a gravel track. We are already talking about me coming back for a few days after the golf is over just in case there's some tidying up or further training required. I guess I may miss Easter at home, but be here for songkraam, which is supposedly a religious based festival but in a lot of places is a prolonged water pistol fight. Could be fun in the right place but at other times just annoying.
